On Tuesday 8th July the Year 3 class had a Roman Day linked to their history unit ‘Emperors and Empires’. They came dressed as Romans and made mosaics, shields and clay pots. They also learnt a song about the Romans and had a brilliant day!

On Thursday 3rd July the children in Year 2 went on a family beach trip to Well-Next-The-Sea. This was to support their Geography project on 'Coastlines' and their Design and Technology project 'Beach Hut'.

Each class raises money, annually to buy new books for class libraries in school. Year 2 decided to have a Funky 5k. We are super proud of Year2 as not only did they all run/walk 25 laps of the side field they showed many personal qualities.

Andy from Solar for Schools came in to school today to do his annual inspection of our solar panels. He spent some time with our Eco Ambassador Leaders Milly and Everly looking at our online data and then they got to explore a model solar panel and power a fan and an alarm. We're hoping that Milly and Everly will be able to give regular reports in assembly on how well we are doing.

We were very fortunate to have an inspirational visitor on Thursday: Floyd Woodrow from the Compass for Life Foundation joined Years 5 and 6 for an all-day workshop which aimed to provide them with the tools to articulate their dreams.

In Year 3 our history unit is ‘Emperors and Empires’, focussing on the Romans. As part of our history learning, we went on a Roman Conquest: Iceni Revolt trip to The Time and Tide Museum. During the day, we experienced what is was like to be a Roman soldier.

On Friday 23rd May we had our annual sports day. The children had the opportunity to participate in sprint, long distance and obstacle races.
16th May 2025
On 16th May the Year 1s went back in time and found out what it was like to live in Victorian times. This was part of a 'Homes Long Ago' event at Gressenhall Museum. They made drop scones, helped clean the house, played with toys and spent time in the classroom. The children looked great in their outfits.

The Year 2 children invited family members to join them at an Asian Fusion Workshop. This was facilitated by our school catering company, Aspens. The children and adults learnt how to create and roll sushi. One child won a prize for the best rolled sushi. The children and adults also had the opportunity to try some stir fry.

The Year 2 and Reception children were really lucky to have a FREE 'Bug Handling' workshop. The children had opportunities to handle a variety of 'bugs' and observe others.

In the Design and Technolgy project 'Remarkable Recipes' the Year 2 children had to follow a recipe to make Eton Mess. The children really enjoyed making this dessert and even more so eating it. There were lots of empty bowls after the tasting session!

During March the Reception children had some human and animal visitors come into the classroom to support their project Animal Safari.

The Reception children went to Gressenhall to participate in a 'Once Upon a Time' event.

On Thursday 6th March we celebrated World Book Day. The children were invited to come dressed as their favourite book character. The children spent the day sharing their favourite books and their favourite book characters.

Year 6 attended a fantastic event at The Breckland Crucial Crew safety education event. Organisations and services represented included: Norfolk Constabulary, Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, St John’s Ambulance, HM Coastguard and The RNLI.

Year 3 and Year 4 had a visit from Olly Day’s Road Safety Magic Show. The children learnt lots of useful information about road safety, whilst having fun and watching magic tricks.

Our Year 4 and 5 children participated in some Bikeability cycle training with Pedal Power. The children learnt some essential road safety skills as well as learning how to give their bikes a health check.

The children in Reception class have been exploring the topic ‘Long Ago’. The children were invited to explore some antiques brought in by staff.

Year 5 went to the National Space Centre in Leicester on Friday 10th January.

Our Reception, Year 1 and 2 children performed a Wriggly Nativity. The Year 2 children took the roles of narrators as well as being main characters from the story.

In Year 1, the children have been using the story "I want my hat back" by Jon Klassen as a stimulus for their writing. For their final piece, the children wrote and illustrated their very own sequel called "I want my friend back".

On Wednesday 4th December the Reception children had a visit from Dereham Firefighters. They taught the children about Fire Safety including 'STOP, DROP, ROLL!'

Our annual needs assessment for Life Skills continues to tell us that Road safety is of high importance for our school.

On 12th November Years 1-6 hosted a whole school reading café. Parents/carers were invited to come into school to think and talk about their reading identity with their children.

On November 7th the Year 2 children went to Norwich Cathedral to explore the story of our local hero, Edith Cavell. Edith told her story while navigating the children through the beautiful Cathedral.

Reception Class welcomed their parents in for a Reading Workshop.

We are grateful to have received a bundle of books from Rotary BookAid to support ‘Talk Through Stories’, an initiative which will extend and deepen our youngest children’s vocabulary.

On 22nd October our Year 3 children went to Gressenhall Museum to learn about Neolithic Britain.

Our Year 5 children are spending time with our Reception and Year 1 children once a week to share a love of reading.

Our School Council have been meeting to focus on our current 'Life Skills' curriculum, finding out what the children think they need to learn to keep them happy, healthy and safe.

Our Year 3 children participated in a 'Roman Day'. The children were invited to dress up in Roman style costume. They did lots of crafts including creating mosaics, shields and coiled pottery using clay.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution visited the school for water safety week to deliver a presentation to all the children.

We have had some more visitors in to support our Science fortnight. We had a marine biologist who worked with the Year 5 and 6 children and gave an interesting presentation about life under water.

On Friday 7th June we had a visit from Danielle who works for Solar for Schools.

On Friday 24th May we had a whole school Sports Day. The children had the opportunity to participate in a sprint and an obstacle race. This was rounded off with a family picnic lunch and some fundraising stalls. A great day was had by all.

The children learnt valuable life skills that would help prepare them as they become more independent with their transition to high school.

The Year 3 children visited the Time and Tide Museum in Great Yarmouth on Thursday. This supported their learning in History on the Roman Empire. The children found themselves at the heart of a rebellion as they plotted to help the local Iceni tribe rise up against the Romans.

Children in Year 4 loved reading their class book: Winter’s Child by Angela McAllister. They took great pride in writing and publishing a sequel story and spending some time sharing their own books with the Year 1 children.

Today we supported the NSPCC Number Day. Children came to school wearing something number related. They also completed some fun number activities in class.
