Our School

Welcome to Mattishall Primary School.

Mattishall is a large and lively village, about five miles east of Dereham and eleven miles west of Norwich.

Mattishall Primary School was established in September 2000, as a result of the amalgamation of the former Mattishall First and Mattishall Middle Schools under Local Authority re-organisation of schools in the Dereham area. From September 2000 to July 2005, the school operated on a split-site in the buildings of the former First and Middle Schools. Funding was made available to bring the school onto one site and a building programme began in November 2004. Since September 2005 the whole school has been together in the redeveloped building on the former Junior site.

Mattishall Primary School became part of the Synergy Multi Academy Trust in April 2017.

The catchment area comprises Mattishall, Mattishall Burgh, Welborne and North Tuddenham. The school provides for children from a wide range of background and family composition. During the Reception year, children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and work towards the Early Learning Goals. Infant children in Year One and Year Two follow Key Stage One of the National Curriculum. Junior children in Years 3-6 follow Key Stage Two of the National Curriculum. Infant children are taught in classes of 30 pupils or under.

Close partnership with parents is considered essential. We encourage parents to contact us informally to discuss any concern and Parent /Teacher meetings are held twice yearly. Children with Special Educational Needs are identified as early as possible and appropriate provision is made to meet their needs.
