At Mattishall Primary School, it is our intention that through the delivery of our broad and ambitious PE Curriculum by well trained staff, our children will:

  • receive fully inclusive lessons that develop both physical skills but also personal, social, cognitive and creative skills
  • have the opportunity to become competent in their physical literacy for their everyday lives and into adulthood
  • have the opportunity to be able to get better and progress
  • be given the chance to understand rules, strategies and tactics for both intelligent movement in Sport and Physical Activity but also as transferable life skills
  • understand and develop a sense of healthy participation as children and into later life;
  • develop their vocabulary and language relating to PE and Sport
  • have the opportunity to practise, review, reflect and refine their knowledge and skills
  • have the opportunity to learn and participate in healthy competition and above all to enjoy and engage positively in PE in Sport and find success in every lesson.

It is our intention that children learn all the facets of PE in its own right but also be able to use it as a vehicle to learn through.

We are also committed to giving our children the opportunity to be safe and confident swimmers so that they are able to enjoy and be around water safely.
